About Metro

 Metro Turf Specialists is a family owned and operated turf and ornamental business, which was founded in Westchester County, New York, in 1966. The original owners, Tony Grasso Sr. and John Wistrand, sold the business to Rick Apgar in 1988, and that was the start of the future for the Apgar family. As the first generation of the Apgar family to run Metro, Rick laid the foundation for all that Metro stands for, still to this day. By 1991, Rick's son, Scott, joined the team, and helped take Metro to the next level of customer service. As the years passed, both of Scott's sons, Rich and Todd, decided that they too aspired to be like their father and grandfather, and followed in their footsteps.

In 2010, Richard officially came on board to the Company, and learned the business from the ground up. Following closely behind him, Todd graduated from Monmouth University in 2012 with a Business Management degree, and reported to work at Metro days later. It was important to Scott that both of his sons knew every aspect of Metro, in order to be successful in their careers, so both boys were required to learn everything from sweeping the warehouse floors, to filing, to loading the truck and making deliveries, to now being Sales Representatives.
